We do not use black pepper (or piperine), as it can irritate the gut mucosa. Our Curcumin Phytosome products contain Meriva®, which complexes curcumin with phospholipids to provide better absorption than uncomplexed curcumin or piperine.

How is Curcumin Phytosome different from regular curcumin or turmeric?

Curcumin, a polyphenol in turmeric, is typically difficult to absorb. Thorne Curcumin Phytosome exclusively uses Meriva®, which provides 29-times greater absorption compared to other curcumin extracts.

Can the sunflower phospholipids in Curcumin Phytosome cause an allergic reaction?

The phospholipid complex in Curcumin Phytosome is extracted from sunflower oil. If there is a history of allergy to sunflower, we would not recommend using this product.
